New course, new challenge

I am excited for the assignment/challenge of creating a social network. One of the ideas that I have been thinking about for this assignment is diversity/affinity group support. I am going to try to create a social environment that facilitates discussions based on the topic of multi-cultural inclusion for high school students. In previous projects, I have dealt with topics directly related to my academic instruction - this time I want to focus on students' social well-being.

I have thought more about this idea and have decided to explore Voicethread as a tool for blended (F2F/online) affinity social networking.

The initial concept is to use Voicethread as a tool for continued sharing and personal reflection. As a moderator, I will post queries that are relevant to the affinity of the group. They will then share their reflections and comment on their peers reflections.

The first affinity group I intend to work with is Latino Leadership. This is a group of students with a a spanish-speaking heritage attending a Quaker independent school where they do not generally identify with the mainstream culture.
